AOTO Expands Its European Virtual Production Footprint with New Studio Projects

LED-based virtual production is taking root across Europe — and in studios from Stockholm to Oslo to London, AOTO display technology is powering some of the region’s newest and most ambitious installations.

In Stockholm, Independent Studios has opened Sweden’s first commercial virtual production studio, developed in partnership with VP Nordic. Built around 240 AOTO DL1.9 LED panels, the facility features a 15 × 4 m LED volume integrated with two sound stages measuring 335 sqm and 552 sqm, giving production teams the flexibility to handle everything from commercial advertising and branded content to film and digital media within a single facility.

Further north, Gateway Studios, together with VP Nordic, has launched Norway’s first permanently installed virtual production studio. Powered by 240 AOTO DL Series LED panels, the installation combines a 15 × 4 m LED volume with two production stages covering 1,047 sqm and 670 sqm. Where temporary LED walls serve short-term projects, Gateway’s permanent infrastructure gives film, television and commercial crews reliable, long-term access to LED-based production — a sign of how the technology is maturing in the Nordic market.

AOTO’s collaboration with VP Nordic also extends to High & Low Studio, where 72 RM1.5E LED panels form the backbone of another dedicated production environment. Together, these three projects represent VP Nordic’s expanding network across the Nordics — with AOTO’s LED technology behind each installation.

Beyond commercial studios, the technology is also reshaping creative education. In the UK, the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) has launched a new Virtual Production Studio as part of its investment in emerging screen technologies. At the heart of the facility is a 7 × 3.5 m curved LED volume built with AOTO RM2.3 LED panels, driven by Brompton Technology processing and integrated with Unreal Engine real-time rendering and a dedicated Vicon motion capture system.

Designed as a shared teaching environment, the studio brings together students from acting, directing, filmmaking, production and technical arts, allowing them to collaborate using the same workflows found on professional sets. The facility also hosts graduate films, commercial content and creative research projects, giving students practical experience with the technologies shaping the future of screen production.

These latest installations add to an expanding European portfolio. Previous AOTO collaborations include Solent University, Rose Bruford College and MARS Volume Studio in the UK, Frames Studio in Austria and Angel Films XR Studio in Finland — spanning commercial studios, higher education and XR production.

Across Europe, virtual production is moving beyond early adoption and becoming part of mainstream content creation. From commercial studios and production companies to universities and creative institutions, AOTO is there — powering the LED technology behind that transformation.
