AOTO Brings Virtual Production and a Broader Display Portfolio to IBC2026

Amsterdam, the Netherlands – September 14, 2026 – AOTO presented its latest work across virtual production, content creation and professional display at IBC2026, held at RAI Amsterdam from September 11–14. The showcase brought together new LED products and integrated solutions for virtual production, live content, rental, cinema, commercial display and immersive environments.

Virtual production remained a central part of AOTO’s presence at IBC. The new RM1.5S Series was shown in a camera-facing setup designed to demonstrate how the display performs under demanding shooting conditions. Its static-drive architecture eliminates scan lines and maintains stable on-camera performance even at shutter speeds up to 1/4000s. Independent LED driving also limits a pixel failure to the individual point rather than allowing it to affect an entire line, while low-temperature operation and thermal management support extended production sessions.

The significance is less about a single specification than what happens on set. As virtual production becomes part of more everyday production environments, LED performance increasingly has to be considered alongside cameras, frame rates, lighting and the practical demands of a shooting day. RM1.5S was developed around those conditions, with the aim of giving production teams fewer display-related variables to work around.

That same focus on production workflow carried into MetaBox Studio, AOTO’s compact smart live streaming solution. Designed for applications such as live commerce, product launches, cultural tourism and online education, the system combines display, lighting, camera, audio-visual and virtual production tools in a more compact setup. Plug-and-play deployment allows a session to be prepared in around 15 minutes, while AI-assisted creation, one-click scene switching and virtual camera movements reduce the amount of manual setup involved in producing virtual content. Its workflow is supported by Coruscant, the in-house developed virtual production system integrating rendering, compositing, scene editing, asset libraries and AI-assisted tools.

Beyond production, AOTO used IBC2026 to show how its LED technologies are being adapted for very different viewing environments. AURA takes a transparent approach to rental and live events, combining a carbon-fiber structure weighing 6.3 kg/m² with transparency of at least 52% and support for curved installations up to 10 degrees. RMxA, meanwhile, addresses fine-pitch rental applications where protection, color consistency and flexible configurations are important, including exhibitions, corporate events and other temporary installations.

For commercial environments, the ADS Series brings a 38 mm ultra-thin double-sided design to applications including airports, shopping malls, retail and exhibition spaces. Rather than placing two conventional displays back to back, the shared rear-housing structure creates a lighter, more compact double-sided format while reducing power consumption.

A different set of requirements applies when the screen becomes part of the viewing environment itself. The AC Series, built around AOTO’s MIP technology, combines a 0.9 mm pixel pitch, 99.9% DCI-P3 coverage and a 100,000:1 contrast ratio for home theater, immersive and premium commercial display applications. For commercial cinema, the CFL Series pairs full-screen acoustic transparency with 99% DCI-P3 coverage, DCI certification and 10G transmission with loop backup, allowing sound and image to occupy the same screen area rather than being treated as separate elements.

That relationship between image, sound and physical space also carries into the AIM Series, developed for immersive LED domes, CAVE environments and immersive tunnels. Full-screen acoustic transparency is combined with cinema-grade color performance and cabinet configurations that can be adapted to flat, curved and spherical installations, giving system designers more freedom when LED becomes part of the architecture rather than simply a screen within it.

The conversation around virtual production continued beyond the technology on display. During IBC2026, AOTO brought together speakers from Orbital Studios, NantStudios and VP Nordic for panel discussions and presentations covering Gaussian Splats, In-Camera VFX, real production workflows and the changing role of virtual production on set. AOTO Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President Wu Wei joined Louisa Bremner of NantStudios, Rasmus Eriksson and Johannes Skoog of VP Nordic for Virtual Production: The Road Ahead, while A. J. Wedding and Laura Coover of Orbital Studios explored how Gaussian Splats could fit into future production workflows.

Across the booth and the sessions around it, one question kept returning: how can these technologies become easier to use in real production? Better image performance matters, but so do setup time, workflow, reliability and the ability to move between different production environments without adding unnecessary complexity.

IBC2026 offered AOTO an opportunity to put those pieces together — from camera-facing LED and compact virtual production workflows to rental, cinema and immersive display — and to continue the discussion with the people using them in production.
